We work with all age groups to cultivate a diverse pipeline by increasing engineering awareness in the K-12 arena and exposing students to real world hands-on engineering experiences. Participating in our programs gives students a real-world experience in dealing with students from other countries, cultures and backgrounds, while fostering an environment where learning goes beyond the classroom and becomes a tangible experience. Our programs allow students the opportunity to visit campus, participate in engineering design challenges, visit labs and get their “feet wet” as “mini engineers” thus increasing their interest and desire to make engineering apart of their future.
Partnering with organizations such as the Leadership Education and Development, National Academy Foundation, and the National Student Leadership Conference has not only, enabled us to reach a global audience thereby allowing students who participate in our programs to see how engineering makes a better life for all.
CEISMC
The Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing(CEISMC) (pronounced like "seismic") is a partnership uniting the Georgia Institute of Technology with educational groups, schools, corporations, and opinion leaders throughout the state of Georgia. CEISMC’s goal is to ensure that K-12 students in Georgia receive the best possible preparation in science, mathematics, engineering, and technology (STEM) as they seek their place in the modern world.
Government and Community Relations
The Office of Government and Community Relations community outreach unit, Community Relations (CR), is focused on building upon Georgia Tech's motto of "Progress and Service" through helping Georgia Tech increase civic responsibility to improve local neighborhoods and K-12 schools and providing a liaison to Metro Atlanta government entities to enhance Georgia Tech's operations.
SECME
The Southeastern Consortium for Minorities in Engineering (SECME) was established in 1975 by the Engineering Deans at six Southeastern universities: University of Alabama, University of Florida, Georgia Institute of Technology, University of South Carolina, University of Tennessee and Tuskegee Institute now Tuskegee University. The mission of SECME is to increase the pool of historically underrepresented and under-served students who will be prepared to enter and complete post-secondary studies in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM); thus creating a diverse and globally competitive workforce.
