Art In Engineering (Part I)
An object regarded as art today may not have been perceived as such when it was first made, nor was the person who made it necessarily regarded as an artist. Both the notion of "art" and the idea of the "artist" are relatively modern terms. Engineering and art may seem contrary to each other, but there is beauty to be found in its form, context, and the creation of aesthetic objects or environments. That means art can be everywhere--from the shoes on your feet to the car you drive to the coffee mug you sip from. We have functional art (objects you use) and art pour l'art (art for its own sake).
As long as there are people who want to create, there will be artists and engineers. So take a journey into the Art of Engineering created by faculty and students in the College of Engineering at Georgia Tech.
