College of Engineering Honors Alumni at 2007 COE Alumni Awards Ceremony

Each year, the College of Engineering recognizes, with an induction ceremony, select alumni who have contributed to the profession, advanced their careers, and enhanced the lives of others both personally and professionally.

The 2007 College of Engineering Alumni Awards Ceremony was held on November 2nd.  Don Giddens, dean of the college, inducted new members into the Engineering Hall of Fame, the Academy of Distinguished Engineering Alumni, and the Council of Outstanding Young Engineering Alumni.

Hall of Fame

The eight inductees to the Engineering Hall of Fame, which is reserved for alumni who have made meritorious engineering and/or managerial contributions to the college during their careers, received the highest honor that can be bestowed on a COE alum.

Academy of Distinguished Engineering Alumni

The Academy of Distinguished Engineering Alumni inducted 27 new members. This award is given to alumni who are recognized for contributions to their profession, to the Institute, and for their active involvement in engineering, management, and society at large.

Council of Young Engineering Alumni

Eleven alumni were inducted to the Council of Young Engineering Alumni. Membership in the Council is presented to alumni under 40 years of age who have demonstrated exemplary professional accomplishments within their profession, field, or organization.

Dean’s Appreciation Award

The 2007 Dean’s Appreciation Award, which is given to honor those special individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the advancement of the College of Engineering in the course of the on-going activities of the college, was bestowed upon two chairs of the College of Engineering.
