Giddens Honored by Students & Colleagues
On June 6th students, family, friends and colleagues gathered to celebrate the research accomplishments and leadership of the dean of the College of Engineering, Don Giddens. Symposium attendees were treated to a series of talks from students representing 1972-1980, the Early, Formative Era; 1981-1996, the Establishing and Expanding Research Era; and 1997 – present, Recognizing Leadership Era. More than 20 speakers prominently displayed pictures reminiscent of days gone by. Several of the pictures Giddens would have preferred not have resurfaced!
Dick Kitney, Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College, London and Larry McIntire, The Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech, served as the keynote speakers. All speakers were in total agreement that Don Giddens is unquestionably a true leader, mentor, visionary and friend.
