Dr. Gang Bao and Robert Milton

Gang Bao and Robert Milton

COE professor, Gang Bao, was recently honored at a reception in recognition of being named the Robert A. Milton Chair in Biomedical Engineering. In his capacity as the Milton chair, Bao will further his research in biomolecular engineering and nanomedicine.

According to COE Dean, Don Giddens, “Gang has enjoyed many successes throughout his career. His most recent include his leadership on two NIH funded nanomedicine centers – one in cardiology and the other in DNA repair machines. Last year, Gang was named a College of Engineering Distinguished Professor.” Bao’s lab is focused on developing bionanotechnology and biomolecular engineering approaches and applying the novel methods to basic biological research and disease studies. Bao received his Ph.D. from Lehigh University, and his M.S. and B.S. degrees from Shandong University.

The Milton chair was named after Robert A. Milton, who earned a bachelor’s degree in management from Georgia Tech in 1983. Milton is the chairman of ACE Aviation Holdings, the largest holding of which is Air Canada and he is the current chair of the Georgia Tech Advisory Board.
